The Carriageworks

In addition to the two performance spaces at the Carriageworks, we also use the rehearsal rooms at the venue – which is located in the city’s Civic Quarter, around ten minutes on foot from the train station or fifteen minutes from the bus station. Nearby car parks include the council-run Woodhouse Lane, the Rose Bowl under Leeds Beckett University, or Q-Park at The Light.

The main entrance to the Carriagworks is from Millennium Square, on the side opposite Civic Hall and The Cuthbert Brodrick pub – the doors into the Box Office area can be found in the brick-faced part of the Electric Press building, just to the left of the big screen in the photo below. Access is also possible from Great George Street, through the Electric Press courtyard.

For events in rehearsal rooms, we usually meet in the bar on Level 2 beforehand, then go along to the room together at the published start time. For rehearsals and meetings, check with the director or organiser to confirm where people will be meeting.

There is a list of room bookings for the week in the entrance on Level 0 – it can be found on the wall to the left of the Box Office window, at the foot of the stairs into the building. Our bookings will always be shown as “Leeds Arts Centre”, and will have details of the room that we are in.
